PADMA BHUSHAN  Fr.Gabriel Chiramel

The most important CMI news of the week was the great honour received by Fr. Gabriel Chiramel of the Devamatha Province of Thrissur from the Government of India. Rev. Fr. Gabriel Chiramel, CMI, was awarded PADMA BHUSHAN on 26th January. The announcement came in connection with India's 58th Republic Day celebrations.
The Government selected him for this high national award in recognition of his services to the nation. He is the founder of Amala Medical College, Thrissur, the second Catholic Medical College of our Country. He is a recognized educationist and organizer.
He was Provincial of our Devamatha Province of Thrissur. His indelible footprints are in Christ College, Irinjalakuda, S.H. College, Thevara, St. Joseph's College, Irinjalakuda, Bharata Matha School, Palakkad, Catholc Centre, Irinjalakuda, Deepti Bhavan, Kozhikode, Snehabhavan for the physically challenged children, Pratiksha Bhavan for the mentally retarded, Sneharam in Manaloor, and so on. Fr. Gabriel is 93 years old. He is hearty and hale. At present he resides at Amala, Thrissur.

The entire CMI Congregation is proud of Fr. Gabriel for this great national recognition he has received.

REST IN PEACE

Beloved father of Rev.Fr.Joy Kalaparambath (Kenya) died on Tuesday (30-01-2007). Funeral will take place on tomorrow(31-01-2007) at 04.00 p.m, Mala. Let us pray for the repose of the soul.  Fr.Joy reaches tomorrow (31-01-2007) at 09.00 a.m.

 

UNTO THY MEDICINE

Shri. Antony beloved father of  Rev.Fr.Jose Payyappilly is critically admitted in Jubilee mission hospital, Thrissur due to massive heart attack. Let us remember him in our prayers for the speedy recovery.

Rev. Fr.Sebastian Athappilly is appointed as General postulator of  CMI Congregation in Rome.
